Plays like BoA, but visually reminds me more of Meat Boy and BattleBlock, pretty good work though!
Love the concept, hate that the ants are lethal, makes doing platforming not as entertaining.
Thank you very much for the feedback. Yes, you're probably right. It feels contradictory. I'll definitely revise this when I develop something new.
It's great that you played it and also took the time to give feedback. It helps a lot!
It is honestly a very neat monster battler, especially with the 1-bit aesthetic, but this honestly really needs some audio, it is deafeningly quiet. I do want to give props for resolving the zubat problem that caves have, absolutely HATED burning through repels to get through those in EVERY generation.
Other than that, some additional changes I'd want added are:
- A way to recover HP passively
Potions are rare, and some enemies hit extremely hard. HOWEVER, I want to deviate from Pokemon and request that it cannot be easily abused. For example, make it take 30 mins irl to fully heal a familiar in the resort may be a good way to balance it.
- Automatically send caught monsters to the resort if the party is full
- Let us pet our familiars!
- Add a settings pane to the menu
Definitely holds plenty of potential, but severely lacks any sort of proper tutorial for me to understand what I am supposed to be doing.
Would be cool to play, if there were anyone online... Please consider updating this to support bots so I can at least try it out!
I like the concept behind how these roguelike mechanics work.
Definitely gets repetitive after round 30
The gameplay loop does get a bit boring after a bit, but I beat all of the levels, and noticed that you can send the ball as the intro cutscene is still playing, and the gun power-up persists between levels. I do want the paddle to be incapable of shrinking further than the default state and have power-ups be far more readable.
Highscore: ~$2.5 Billion.
Make sure to add some stuff to make each city we demolish feel unique, and make the militias far more pronounced.
Outdated Review:
Needs WASD support, and the ability to rebind keys. I do like the concept behind it however. I'll grant you an extra star or 2 when those features are added, cause the screen scroll atm makes playing this impossible.
You can full screen the game, or click the game window to focus it. That will prevent the scrolling. Rebinding keys is something I can't get to right now. I might be able to add WASD support, later today.
I like your method of sprite stacking to handle rendering the car

If you want to wear or hang what I make on a whim, hmu!
